The Summer Season in Winton

Summer is our off-peak season - from November to March. We all know it can get a bit warmer out here, but if you don't mind the warmer weather, then you could be rewarded with green grass, water in the creeks, a few more flies, but a lot less people! It is a totally different look than winter.

We run scheduled tours through most of summer, only taking our annual holiday between 19th  December 2026 and 18th January 2027. Outside of this we run the following tours:

- Age of Dinosaurs Museum Guided Transfer
- Dinosaur Stampede (Lark Quarry) Half Day Dino Dash*
- Rangelands Rifts and Sunset Tour*
- Gondwana Stars Observatory Guided Transfer
- Winton Town Tour

*These two tours involve some dirt road driving, so full disclosure - if it's really wet, we may not be able to access these roads. We'll just find other things to do!

Include Longreach in your Winton Summer Holiday!
Extend your stay for the week to include Longreach or do the shorter half week trip. Travel from Winton to Longreach on one of these options...

• Tuesday and Thursday afternoons - REX Airlines flies from Winton to Longreach. Departs approx 1.10pm (40 minute flight). REX also travels Longreach to Winton on both of these days departing at approx 2.45pm.
• Rail Connect Bus departs Winton bound for Longreach on Monday and Thursday mornings at approx 6.30am (2 hour journey). (Keep in eye out for 2for1 rail journeys from November to March!).
• Greyhound bus departs Winton bound for Longreach on Wednesday to Sunday (5 days a week) at 1.55pm (2 hour journey). 
• Greyhound also departs Longreach bound for Winton on Tuesday to Saturday (5 days a week) at 8.25am (2 hour journey).

Celebrate Summer 2 Night Package

To help make it easier for you, we have packaged a few of these tours together with accommodation at the North Gregory Hotel (Premium Queen,or Twin, ensuite room) and entry to the Waltzing Matilda Centre. You take care of your own meals at our local cafe's and pubs.

- RailBus (connecting to Spirit of the Outback train) departs Winton on Thursday and Monday (departs ~6.45am, arrives ~9.00am)
