Welcome to Summer!
There's no denying it, Winton can get hot in summer and it can also rain! Many of our normal Peak Season tours rely on access to dirt roads which become impassible when it rains. So to help eliminate these uncertain aspects, and to keep you out of the heat, we offer the following three shorter half day tours and try to do these in the cooler parts of the day. The days of these shorter tours does vary slightly than what we do during peak season. For availability please check the Summer Tour Schedule as sometimes I block out dates to have a break myself. 1. Australian Age of Dinosaurs Half Day Tour
Available on: MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY Departing at 7.30am, returning approx 11.45am Price: Adults $110pp Seniors $110pp Child $80pp 2. Rangelands Rifts and Sunset Tour Available on: MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY Departing at 4.45pm. *Start times vary according to actual sunset times. Price: Adults $90pp Seniors $85pp Child $65pp 3. Arriving by Train?
Queensland Rail have some great specials on the Spirit of the Outback train over the summer period. If you are catching this train to Longreach, there is a Rail Bus that meets the train bound for Winton (2 hour trip). You can also catch this bus back to Longreach for the departure of the train. Just make sure you book the train to/from Winton to include the Rail Bus as a part of your journey.
Stay in the Outback longer!
You're coming to the outback so you could stay a bit longer and include a few days in Longreach as well!
1. REX Airlines fly Winton to Longreach (@1.10pm) and Longreach to Winton (@2.45pm) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (40 minute flight).
2. Greyhound have a 5 day a week service from Longreach to Winton (Tues-Sat @8.25am) and Winton to Longreach (Wed-Sun @1.55pm). This is a 2 hour bus trip.
3. There are some great day tours you can do around Longreach over summer too! Say hi to GOLDEN WEST TOURS and OUTBACK AUSSIE TOURS
