Winton 150 Year Celebrations - Tours of the Region

2025 is the 150th anniversary of Winton! To mark the occasion the Winton Shire Council is celebrating for a week - 6th to 13th April 2025 including Waltzing Matilda Day and the Shearer's Reunion.
Red Dirt Tours will be running our normal schedule tours plus a few more Rangelands Rifts and Sunset Tours for visitors during the week, AND, the Winton Shire Council has asked us to run and sell three tours of their choice with their own special tour guide during the week:
UPDATE as at 30 March 2025 Due to the recent weather, road closures and wet and boggy conditions, a difficult decision has been made to cancel the following Winton 150 Celebration Tours: 1. A Day at Dagworth 2. Meet Your Mates at Middleton 3. Morning Tea at Oondooroo All guests who are currently booked onto these tours will receive a full refund. The Red Dirt Tours team will be in touch. Winton 150 Celebrations Town Tour In order to fill a gap in the 150 Tours schedule, we will be running one hour long historical Town Tours: Monday 7th April - 9.00am - 10.00am and 11.00am - 12.00pm. Sunday 13th April - 9.00am - 10.00am Pick up at the Waltzing Matilda Centre only. Jeff Close has done lot of research over the years on Winton History and combined with Red Dirt Tours Vicki you will be sure to hear and see some of the town's history! So join us! |

Winton Town Tour
Monday 7th April 2025 1. 9.00am - 10.00am 2. 11.00am - 12.00pm Sunday 13th April - 9.00am - 10.00am Let's explore Winton's rich history from Waltzing Matilda and the early days of Qantas, to sheep and cattle grazing, to opal mining and finding evidence of Australian dinosaurs. We travel around town on this one hour bus tour - you will see historic (and new) sites and buildings and hear some of the history right back to the days of Pelican Waterhole. A Day at Dagworth - CANCELLED
Monday 7th April 2025 CANCELLED Discover the history along the old Landsborough Highway on a guided day bus tour. Visit the historic Dagworth Cemetery, Combo Waterhole which inspired the song “Waltzing Matilda”, enjoy lunch at the Blue Heeler Hotel in Kynuna and return back to Winton. COST - CANCELLED |
Meet Your Mates at Middleton - CANCELLED
Wednesday 9th April 2025 CANCELLED Visit the historical sites along the way on this guided bus tour to the famous Middleton Hotel for lunch. Enjoy the views from Cawnpore Lookout and return to Winton. COST - CANCELLED |
Morning Tea at Oondooroo
Sunday 13th April 2025 9.30am - 12.00pm Enjoy the vast open space and morning tea at Oondooroo Station. Be amazed at the workmanship in the tour of the surrounding stone buildings still in station use. COST - CANCELLED |
